John Henry, It was one year ago and six months today that we lost our FAVORITE horse!
I think of you every day. You live in my heart and I will never forget you.
I understand ALYSHEBA used to stand in your old paddock at the fence near your statue and "speak" with you. Now Aly is with you in Heaven's beautiful pastures. Enjoy the competitive spirit you both had... "and down the stretch they come..."

Somewhere in time's own space, there must be some sweet pastured place Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow, some paradise where the horses go; For, by the love that guides my pen, I know great horses live again. -- Stanley Harrison
$200,000 San Juan Capistrano Invitational Handicap (gr. IIT) on closing day of the 2008-09 season at Santa Anita April 19. The San Juan Capistrano, an event that remains a rarity in American racing today at its about 1 3/4-mile distance.
One of John's big wins was in this race I remember watching a replay and they kept going around around around.... "BUT IT'S JOHN HENRY HOLDING ON TO THE LEAD JOHN HENRY IN FRONT!!!!!"
John's '80 San Juan Capistrano was the BEST! He looked so small compared to the other horses but not to worry, JH had such a tremendous heart! Love the race call! First "John Henry In Command" then later "John Henry In Front"!!!!! Thank you John for all of the priceless memories. You will live in our hearts forever Champ!!! Love, Mary & Bob

Thanks for the heart and lessons taught.

One reason why birds and horses are happy is because they don't spend a lot of time trying to impress other birds and horses.
