A backside stable worker recently reported overhearing this quiet early morning conversation between Zen and her trainer John Shirreffs.
"You won't believe what I did last night, John... I took a little walk to see the new John Henry statue because I've heard so much about him and his career... First of all, I was surprised how small he was. Even though he's standing on a large granite base, I could almost look him in the eye. Well, let me tell you... and I know it's only a statue... but looking into JH's determined eyes made the mane on the back of my neck stand up. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to run with him in the stretch."
