Hi All, We (my husband & I) got to see John today (Mon. Oct 1). We got there 10:30-11:00 am(? I didn't have a watch). A lovely helpful lady was holding him outside his stall. He wanted studmuffins/donuts, and he had some. He had his head in the feed/tack room wanting treats. I had never got to touch/pet him, I was almost silly with glee! He was very 'gentlemanly' and accepted my weak pats with the bearing of royalty. I am still in awe. I missed work today so that I could see him; I worry, as I am sure others do. The ladies said that he was doing well. He has not had the urge to go on a "Mystery Walk" lately; but when we got there, he was poking about the barn and nibbled on some grass at the front lawn of Hall of Champions. I drank in his beautiful face; the essence of "John". We brought him some apples from an orchard nearby in Pulaski County. We had a good day. I had to see him. And I did. And I smiled through the tears.
Hi JohnsFan! I just read your comments...by the time I got to the end of it I, too, had tears in my eyes. Isn't it amazing that the horse that "nobody wanted" would fill the hearts of so many people. I live in Burbank. I've visited John four times in the past three years. I will be visiting him again this weekend (10/6-10/9/07). So, that will be a total of 5 times in the past four years!! This little guy is in my thoughts and in my heart every single day. Thank you for sharing your experience with his fans. John~John is truly amazing - the Living Legend - the Champ! Judy G.
Hi JudyG, I am so glad you are coming to see John! He is now getting some of the publicity that he deserves. I am still in awe of being so close to him. Since he is now 'doing better' the Horse park has stopped the daily updates, I have to seek news where ever I can. Please let me know how your visit goes! Take care, have fun, looking forward to your post.
JohnsFan: I am so grief striken I cannot begin to write anything other than to say I was at the Hall of Champions on John Henry's last day. I was "celebrating" my birthday. But, when I left at 5:30 that evening, I felt in my heart and soul it would the the LAST time I would see and touch John~John. I'm sure Dr. John has not written anything since October 8th because it is too painful to write anything. I will be at the memorial service on October 19th. This will make three trips to KHP in the past six weeks. All my visits were with John Henry. God Bless him. Rest In Peace Little One. Love you and miss you... tears flow every day.
